Arsenal's quest for fresh talent has intensified.

Transfer insider, Dean Jones, has hinted that the club developed a keen interest in acquiring Dutch-Nigerian forward, Joshua Zirkzee, currently playing for Bologna in the Serie A.

The 22-year-old sensation has become a standout performer under the guidance of Thiago Motta, catching the attention of various clubs both domestically and abroad, with Arsenal emerging as a potential suitor.

With the Gunners eyeing a striking addition in the upcoming transfer window, Zirkzee emerges as a viable option amidst speculations surrounding Victor Osimhen's hefty price tag.

He costs £45 million, making him a more financially feasible option for the North London outfit. Jones reaffirmed Arsenal's interest in the forward, stressing his affordability compared to other targets.

"There is interest in him from Italian clubs that is going to prove tempting for him, but Arsenal are obviously very interested and at £45million we're talking about a player that is half the price of someone like Gyokeres," he said as reported by GiveMeSport.

However, the challenge lies in persuading him to move to England, especially after his noteworthy stint in Serie A this season.

Zirkee's international future sparked interest after he received his first call-up to the Netherlands national team. Despite prior discussions about potentially representing Nigeria, his inclusion in Ronald Koeman's squad suggested a dwindling possibility of a switch in allegiance.

Koeman named Zirkzee in the provisional squad for the friendlies against Scotland and Germany, as reported by Daily Sport.

Ex-Roma star urges Napoli to sign Zirkee

Sports Brief reported that Zirkzee was named the perfect candidate to replace Victor Osimhen at Napoli, should the striker leave the reigning Italian champions at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old Nigerian forward is on the shopping list of Europe’s elite clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

Former AS Roma star, Davide Bombardini, has urged last season's Serie A champions to sign Zirkzee when Osimhen is finally sold.
