Bayer Leverkusen striker, Victor Boniface, has been nominated for the coveted EA Bundesliga Team of the Season for his superb efforts this season.

The Super Eagles forward has been instrumental in Die Werkself's triumph in this campaign, capped off with their first league title in almost 120 years.

Leverkusen's victory ended Bayern Munich's 12-year domination, clinching the title with five games to spare thanks to 79 points from just 29 matches.

The Nigerian forward struck the opening goal in their recent 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen at the BayArena, which sealed their title charge with games still to play.

Despite missing 11 games due to injury, the 23-year-old is among the top scorers in Xabi Alonso's squad, with 11 goals in the league and 18 in all competitions.

Boniface faces stiff competition for a spot in the Team of the Season's attacking line-up, contending with the likes of Bayern's Harry Kane and VfB Stuttgart's Serhou Guirassy.

As reported by All Nigeria Soccer, former Arsenal midfielder, Granit Xhaka, has also been nominated alongside two other of his Leverkusen teammates, Exequiel Palacios and Florian Wirtz.

Boniface and his team are also aiming for a treble, buoyed by their exceptional season and unbeaten streak of 43 matches across all competitions.

With a DFB-Pokal final against FC Kaiserslautern on the horizon and a UEFA Europa League quarter-final second leg against West Ham United, Leverkusen are now as clear favourites for further silverware.

"It doesn’t stop here so we have to push hard. We know we won the league; it’s a big achievement for us. But we also have two things we are aiming at," he said, as quoted by Daily Post Nigeria.

Napoli, Juventus could pursue Boniface

Sports Brief also reported that Napoli, AC Milan, and Juventus are three Serie A clubs reportedly interested in signing Boniface in the summer.

Bayer Leverkusen CEO, Fernando Carro, also disclosed that the club could sell one of its star players to fund the purchase of new players.

West Ham United and Manchester United are also said to be monitoring Boniface and could make a move for him if that opportunity arises.
