Kaizer Chiefs have made a new decision concerning Cavin Johnson's role as the interim coach of the club ahead of next season in the Premier Soccer League.

Johnson was appointed as Amakhosi caretaker coach in October 2023 after the club parted ways with Molefi Ntseki.

The South African tactician has had a poor run since taking charge of the Glamour Boys. In the 15 games he's coached the team, they've only managed to win five.

The poor run of performances has led to many fans calling for a new coach to be appointed by Amakhosi.

According to a report by iDiskiTimes, Kaizer Chiefs have decided to return Johnson to his former post as the Head of Youth Academy and appoint a new permanent manager.

Johnson was eyeing the post of the permanent coaching role at the club, but the recent form of the team and moving out of the top three on the DStv Premiership has cut off his chances of taking the position.

Amakhosi are currently eighth on the PSL table, seven points behind Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates.

Kaizer Chiefs have been linked with the likes of Pitso Mosimane, Jose Peseiro, Benni McCarthy, Vanderlei Luxemburgo, and Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi but are yet to decide who they will go with for the 2024-25 season.
