Stellenbosch have extended their unbeaten run in the DStv Premiership to 13 matches following their 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday night.

It was fight-to-finish at the FNB Stadium, but the stars from the City of Oaks battled hard to claim all three points.

Both teams started the encounter on a desperate note, as the ball went from end-to-end.

Stellenbosch came close in the 22nd minute but Bruce Bvuma eventually intercepted a dangerous pass as the Stellies sought for the opener.

Ten minutes later, Siyethemba Sithebe was brought down just at the edge of the area, but the chance from the resulting set piece was fluffed.

The only goal of the game came in the stoppage-time of first half with Devin Titus scoring the eventual decider.

Four minutes into the second half, Sage Stephens was forced into make a low save to his left to deny Christian Saile from the equaliser.

Chiefs battled hard, but somehow it they just could not restore parity, leaving the home fans in utter disappointment, Event Brite reports. It ended; Kaizer Chiefs 0-1 Stellenbosch FC.

Following the victory, Stellenbosch move to 38 points from 21 matches as they maintain their second position on the log.

Amakhosi on the other hand, remain in seventh position with 30 points from 22 matches.

Kaizer Chiefs withdraw interest in Nwabali

Kaizer Chiefs who were one of the leading clubs interested in Nwabali have backed out of any deal to sign the Nigerian after Chippa United slammed a whopping R30 million as his price tag.
