  • Victor Boniface has opened up on Bayer Leverkusen's target after clinching the Bundesliga title
  • The Super Eagles star was one of the best players in his club's run to win their first league title
  • The Nigerian international was one of the scorers in Die Werkself's 5-0 win over Werder Bremen

Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface, has disclosed Bayer Leverkusen's next target after the club clinched the German Bundesliga title for the first time on Sunday.

The Nigerian striker was one of the goalscorers in Xabi Alonso's side's 5-0 thrashing of Werder Bremen at the BayArena to claim the German league.

Die Werkself won the league with five games to spare and still has a DFB Pokal clash against Kaiserslautern and a UEFA Europa League quarter-finals second-leg tie against Premier League side West Ham.

According to the Daily Post, Boniface claimed in an interview with Soccernet that Bayer Leverkusen's next target is to win the two remaining competitions.

"Of course, we have two [more] important trophies we are aiming at. We are in the DFB-Pokal Cup final, and we are also in the [UEFA] Europa League quarter-finals," he said.
"So, it doesn't stop here. So, we have to push hard. We know we won the league; it's a big achievement for us.
"But we also have two things [trophies] we are aiming at. So if we can have the perfect three, of course, we will celebrate more."

Bayer Leverkusen's next match is against West Ham in the Europa League. They need to avoid heavy defeat to qualify for the semi-finals.

Boniface delighted after Bundesliga win

Sports Brief earlier reported that Boniface expressed his excitement after Leverkusen won their first-ever Bundesliga title on Sunday, following a 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen at the Bay Arena.

The Super Eagles attacker opened the scoring after converting from the spot to hand his team a first-half lead before a second-half demolishing saw Leverkusen enter the history books.

A goal from former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka and a hat-trick from Florian Wirtz left the Bay Arena in pandemonium at the final whistle.
