  • Napoli are considering Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface as Osimhen's replacement
  • Boniface's impressive performance for other Bundesliga leaders has attracted interest
  • Given Leverkusen's strong Bundesliga position, Napoli might find it difficult to sign him

In the quest to secure a potential successor for Victor Osimhen, Napoli have reportedly set their sights on Bayer Leverkusen's striker, Victor Okoh Boniface.

Boniface, aged 23, showcased his prowess in the first half of the season for Xabi Alonso's side, delivering 10 goals and eight assists in just 15 starts for Die Werkself.

His stellar performance earned him the Rookie of the Month award for four consecutive months.

However, a setback in the form of an adductor injury sidelined him for much of the Rückrunde, while Leverkusen continues its campaign on all fronts, remaining unbeaten after 39 games.

Despite interest from clubs like Arsenal, Bundesliga leaders remain reluctant to part ways with the talented forward, unless a bid of approximately €55m surfaces as reported by Soccernet. Most clubs cited as possible destinations for the forward must his hefty €120m release clause.

Italian transfer expert, Niccolò Ceccarini, spoke about the club's shortlist of striker targets in the event of the Nigerian's departure.

“David of Lille is one of them, but there are also high options on the list. There’s Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord, who’s having an extraordinary season in Holland. He has scored 21 goals in Eredivisie and 4 assists, adding 2 goals in the Champions League and 1 in the Europa League. In addition to him, there is also Benjamin Sesko," said Ceccarini, as reported by Business Day.

Transfer expert says Osimhen will join the Premier League

Sports Brief reported that Italian transfer guru, Gaetano Fedele, believed he knew Victor Osimhen's future destination amid links with Premier League giants.

The striker has been in the Italian Serie A since 2020 after joining Napoli from French Ligue 1 side, Lille OSC.

Fedele believes the Super Eagles international has already decided where to play next season despite recently renewing his contract with Napoli.
