  • Ronaldinho travelled to France to watch his former clubs in the UCL
  • Barcelona defeated Paris Saint-German in the first leg of the clash
  • The former Brazil midfielder was handed a heroic welcome in Paris

Ronaldinho received a heroic welcome to the Parc des Princes following his return to Paris to watch his former clubs PSG and Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.

The legendary Brazilian player joined Barcelona from PSG, where he enjoyed a lot of success including winning two Ballon d'Or's.

The 44-year-old is revered by fans of both clubs and many across the world for what he brought to football, which was pure skills and entertainment.

In a video shared on social media, fans from both sides were spotted chanting the Brazilian's name in a show of appreciation for his time at the clubs.

"Thank you, Nike, PSG, and Barcelona for the historic night!!! For some, it's just a game, for others just the result...But for me, it's part of my football history gathered in the same place, in my favourite place! The field, the perfect lawn, the sound of the stands, where everything makes more sense...Me sitting, enjoying a night of pure magic and emotion... Long live the Champions League," wrote Ronaldinho on X.

Ronaldinho made 200 appearances in a trophy-laden career for both clubs and won his only UEFA Champions League title in Paris while playing for Barcelona, per Transfermarkt.

Meanwhile, in a thrilling encounter on Wednesday night, La Blaugrana secured a 3-2 first-leg win after Ronaldinho's godson Rafinha netted twice for Barcelona.

Former Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha were also on the scoresheet for the Ligue 1 giants before Andreas Christensen netted the winner.

Dembele scores belter against Barcelona

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that PSG winger, Ousmane Dembele netted a belter against Barcelona in the first leg of their quarterfinal tie on Wednesday evening.

The Frenchman, who swapped the Catalan giants for Les Parisiens last summer, rifled home from an impossible angle, poetically marking his first goal of the calendar year.

Dembele took it up a notch with his celebration. While most players tend to have a muted celebration when playing against their former clubs out of sheer respect, the 26-year-old did the opposite.
