  • Harry Kane scored a penalty kick for Bayern Munich against Arsenal
  • Defender William Saliba fouled Leroy Sane to concede the spot-kick
  • David Raya was getting stick for his poor approach to Kane's penalty

Arsenal goalkeeper, David Raya, did not cover himself in glory for his approach to Harry Kane's penalty, allowing the striker to roll into an empty net.

William Saliba fouled Leroy Sane, who took out the entire Arsenal defence on a counterattack in one of the French star's many defensive lapses on the night.

Swedish referee, Glenn Nyberg, pointed to the spot, and Kane stepped up to give Bayern Munich the lead. Belgian star Leandro Trossard came off the bench to equalise for the home team.

Van der Vaart blasts Raya

Kane notched his sixth goal at the Emirates Stadium, more than any other player at the Gunners' home ground, five of which came during his time at Tottenham Hotspur.

Former Spurs striker Rafael Van der Vaart is displeased at Spanish goalkeeper Raya for going to the ground too quickly, even before Kane took a touch.

"Take a look at Raya. Is this guy even a goalkeeper? Kane doesn't even make a movement, but Raya just falls to the ground already,” he said via Sun Sport.

Per The Athletic, the England national team captain admitted he had researched the Brentford loanee, who saved two spot kicks to help Mikel Arteta's men reach the quarter-final.

"It was one of them when I have done a bit of research of his games against Porto. It was nice to see him go early and make it easier for me,” he said.

There is all to play for in the second leg at the Allianz Arena next week. The elimination of the away goals rule makes it an open contest for both sides.

Kane lucky to escape red card

Sports Brief reported that Kane was lucky to escape a red card after planting a nasty elbow into the throat of Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhaes during a duel.

The striker was shown a yellow card, yet he protested his innocence, claiming it was accidental. Fans on social media were furious and wanted a red card shown.
