  • Victor Boniface is a top transfer target for Serie A giants, AC Milan
  • The Italians want the Nigerian to replace departing Oliver Giroud
  • Giroud will leave AC Milan in the summer to join LAFC in the MLS

Victor Boniface could be heading to the Serie A next season as the Super Eagles striker has been identified as a top transfer target for Italian giants, AC Milan.

The 23-year-old forward has been super impressive for incoming Bundesliga champions, Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 16 goals in all competitions for the German club in his first season.

According to Football Italia, Boniface emerged as AC Milan’s preferred option to replace the departing Oliver Giroud in the summer as their primary target Joshua Zirkzee will prove too expensive.

With Giroud set to join LAFC at the end of his contract in June, the Rossoneri are desperate to seal a deal for a new striker within their budget but Bologna could be looking for a €75m sale for Zirkzee.

Milan have now turned their attention to Boniface, whom they tried to sign last summer before the Super Eagles forward sealed a deal to join Bayer Leverkusen for €20 million.

How much will Boniface cost?

Meanwhile, Boniface’s latest transfer value estimates that the Bayer Leverkusen forward will cost around €40m- €50m as AC Milan prepares to throw in a bid for the prolific attacker, Complete Sports reports.

Leverkusen are guaranteed to make at least double the amount they spent on the Nigerian striker should he depart for a new team after one season in Germany.

Juventus and Napoli are the other two Serie A clubs that have reportedly been linked with an interest in Boniface when the summer transfer window opens in June.

Juventus set sights on Boniface

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Italian Serie A powerhouse, Juventus, are already laying the groundwork for the 2024-25 football season by identifying their transfer targets.

The Turin club are looking to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Boniface, and Bologna star, Zirkzee as they prepare for a comeback into the UEFA Champions League next season.

The potential signing of the Nigerian duo would compensate for the expected departures of Arkadiusz Milik and English attacker, Samuel Illing-Junior.
