Paris Saint-Germain are seemingly getting closer to sealing the signing of Victor Osimhen as the Ligue 1 giants continue to pursue a deal for the Napoli superstar in the summer.

According to Complete Sports, PSG are prepared to meet Osimhen’s new €130 million release clause set after the Nigerian signed a contract extension with Napoli earlier this season.

With this move, the Parisians have overtaken English Premier League clubs Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United, who have all indicated their interest in signing the Napoli forward.

Osimhen has recently signed a contract extension until 2026, but Napoli are willing to cash in on the Super Eagles striker as long as his suitors meets their demand of paying his release clause.

Why PSG are favourites to sign Osimhen

Meanwhile, PSG’s relationship with Napoli in the transfer market makes the Ligue 1 club favourites to sign Osimhen as both teams have already completed several deals in the past, Football Italia reports.

The Italian club's former superstars, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Edinson Cavani, moved to PSG in 2012 and 2013, respectively, for a combined €95mil transfer fee as both teams strengthened their relationship.

Fabian Ruiz also signed for the Ligue 1 giants in 2022 for €23mil after leaving the reigning Serie A champions following a successful stint in Serie A.

Osimhen’s poor form frustrate fans

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Osimhen’s performance against Atalanta in a recent Serie A game has caused Napoli fans to question about his quality recently.

The 25-year-old forward drew blank as Napoli were walloped 3-0 by Atalanta as their quest to qualify for Europe next season suffered a major blow with that result.

Osimhen had a poor day at the office for the Serie A champions, failing to threaten the opposition's goal. He also picked up a yellow card, adding to his woes.
