  • Andre Onana is making the headlines again after failing to prevent Conor Gallagher from scoring
  • Manchester United conceded a 4th-minute goal as they faced Chelsea at Stamford Bridge
  • Fans have continued to react, with many suggesting Onana should have dealt with the ball

Football fans have taken to social media to react after Andre Onana failed to deny Conor Gallagher from putting Chelsea ahead against Manchester United.

It took just four minutes for the Blues to open the scoring as the Cameroonian goalkeeper failed to handle a tame effort from Gallagher.

The England midfielder was left unmarked in the danger area and the ball found its way to him as his right-footed effort beat Onana in goal.

The shot stopper dived late and the ball had already crossed the line before his attempt to prevent it, leaving fans fuming.

Many took to X to express their frustrations on the goalkeeper who joined the Red Devils from Italian club Inter Milan.

He joined Manchester United last summer on a contract running until June 2028, with the option of a further year, the club said in a statement.

Having conceded against Gallagher, many have claimed that the 28-year-old should have done better. One said:

"I can think of 20 goalkeepers in the MLS that could've stopped Gallagher's shot."

Another added:

"Conor Gallagher makes some excellent runs into the box and shouldn't have been unmarked, but Andre Onana should save that."

A fan wrote:

"Manchester United need to axe Onana before he leads them to relegation. What's that gift to Chelsea and Connor Gallagher."

A troll wrote:

Onana don suffer from Chelsea hand today. Gallagher before, now Cold Palmer. Who go save Manchester United now.

Onana hails Van der Sar

Sports Brief earlier reported that Onana credited his resurgence at Manchester United to the invaluable support from former club legend Edwin van der Sar.

The 28-year-old, who faced initial criticism upon his arrival at Old Trafford from Ajax last summer, has since blossomed into a reliable figure for the Red Devils.

Speaking candidly about his mentorship, Onana expressed gratitude for Van der Sar's guidance during challenging times.
