Mohamed Salah keeps setting the pace in the English Premier League after netting a historic goal in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, March 30.

The 31-year-old forward scored what proved to be the winner to send the Reds top of the Premier League table, as Manchester City and Arsenal dropped points later on Sunday.

According to the Daily Post, Salah’s goal against Brighton was his 16th in the Premier League this season as he moves closer to Erling Haaland in the race for the Golden Boot in England.

The Egyptian forward has also reached a milestone of 25 goal contributions this season, the seventh straight season he has achieved the feat after creating nine assists in the EPL.

Salah will now hope to continue his impressive display for Jurgen Klopp’s side when they face Sheffield United in their next Premier League tie on Thursday.

Salah equals Henry and Shearer’s record

Meanwhile, Salah became the third player in the history of the Premier League to record 25-plus goal contributions in seven different Premier League seasons after Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer, Sport Bible reports.

Since the EPL’s inception in 1992, former Arsenal star, Henry, and Newcastle United legend, Shearer, are the only two players who had achieved the feat before the Liverpool forward.

Salah has scored 153 goals and assisted 68 times in 241 league games for Liverpool, averaging one goal every 91 minutes for the Merseysiders.

Salah trims Haaland’s EPL lead

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Erling Haaland and Salah are in a close duel at the top of the scoring charts, with only two goals between them.

On Sunday, the Norwegian striker failed to extend his lead in the EPL Golden Boot race after a poor outing in Man City's goalless draw with Arsenal.

Salah, meanwhile, climbed to second place with his strike against Brighton, moving to within two goals of the lead after netting his 16th goal this term.
