  • Manchester City are preparing to host rivals, Arsenal, in the Premier League
  • City are likely to be without a number of key players for the weekend clash
  • The match comes at a time when the Citizens are pushing to retain their title

At least six Manchester City stars could miss the club's much-anticipated Premier League cracker against Arsenal.

City are scheduled to host their title rivals at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, March 31.

The match comes at a time when the Citizens are keen to catch up with the Gunners, who are leading the standings with 64 points.

Only one point is separating Mikel Arteta's charges at the top and third-placed City, with only 10 games left to end the season.

However, City boss, Pep Guardiola, is set to have a difficult time balancing and selecting his squad ahead of the Arsenal meeting, with a number of key players nursing injuries.

No fewer than six squad members are nursing injuries, majorly sustained during the international break.

Which Man City players are injured?

Midfielders Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, and Matheus Nunes top the list of players who are likely to miss the Etihad showdown.

Defenders Kyle Walker, John Stones, and Manuel Akanji are also major doubts for the weekend encounter.

Walker is undergoing a second injury after suffering a hamstring problem when the Three Lions faced Brazil, a match that they lost 1-0.

However, Sky Sports reports that the England international might join the squad that will play the Gunners.

Stones, meanwhile, picked up an injury during a 2-2 draw against Belgium earlier in the week. He has had a not-so-good season, managing to start in 11 league matches for the defending champions.

Akanji, who was Guardiola's hope, is not quite fit to play for Man City against Arsenal after a knock that forced him out of the Swiss squad.

Southgate provides Stones injury update

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Gareth Southgate providing an injury update on Stones ahead of City's EPL meeting with Arsenal.

The defender lasted just nine minutes during England's clash against Belgium at Wembley Stadium before being withdrawn.
