Former Orlando Pirates midfielder, Isaac Chansa, has shared his thoughts on the departure of Thembinkosi Lorch.

He has stressed that the depth within the squad is enough could step up to fill the gap left by the new Mamelodi Sundowns man.

Chansa, who graced the Pirates midfield in two separate spells, expressed confidence in the ability of the club to thrive despite Lorch's departure.

He highlighted promising talents within the squad and identified Relebohile Mofokeng, Patrick Maswanganyi, and Monnapule Saleng as potential successors to Lorch's legacy.

Drawing parallels to the dynamics of elite football clubs, Chansa likened Lorch's departure to the situation at Real Madrid following Cristiano Ronaldo's exit, where Karim Benzema stepped up to the challenge.

“We all thought Karim [Benzema] was not good enough when Cristiano [Ronaldo] was still playing for Madrid, but the moment he left, Benzema took the responsibility. We have Mofokeng, Maswanganyi and Saleng, I think these players can take the team to greater heights. They can fill that space,” Chansa said, as quoted by Goal.

Acknowledging Lorch's impact during his tenure at the Buccaneers, Chansa pointed out the need for fans to embrace the transition and support the remaining players.

While Lorch initially struggled to find his footing at Sundowns, recent performances suggest a resurgence in form. Following a standout display in the Nedbank Cup, where he netted a brace against Maritzburg United, he expressed gratitude for the guidance of coach, Rulani Mokwena.

“I want to thank the man above for the challenge that he gave me, and I promise to honour it. The coach was hard on me during the week for not scoring the goals, I’m getting the balls, but I’m not shooting enough, and he was hard on me. I’m happy today, I managed to score two goals,” he said, as reported by iDiski Times.

Sports Brief reported that Sundowns coach, Rulani Mokwena, shed light on the strategy behind integrating Lorch, Matias Esquivel, and others.

Lorch has primarily appeared as a substitute in four matches.
