The Euro 2024 dream lives on for Poland.

They defeated Wales in a penalty shootout in the play-off finals on Tuesday night to qualify for this year's European Championship.

Euro 2024 Group D teams

Poland

The road to Euro 2024 wasn't easy for Poland. They had to go through the qualifying play-offs after finishing third in Group E behind Albania and Czechia.

Poland were placed in Path A, where they faced Estonia in the semi-finals. They recorded a 5-1 win in that contest to arrange a final showdown with Wales in Cardiff.

That winner-take-all match went to penalties after both sides failed to score in regulation and extra time. Poland held their nerve in the shootout, beating Wales 5-4 to advance to Euro 2024.

This will be Poland's fifth appearance in the European Championship. Their best finish in the tournament came in Euro 2016 when they reached the quarter-finals.

France

France booked their place in Euro 2024 with ease, going unbeaten in the qualifying round to finish top of Group B.

They finished with 22 points after recording seven wins and one draw. One of those victories was a 14-0 win over Gibraltar.

Euro 2024 will be France's 11th appearance in the European Championship. Their best finish in the tournament came in 1984 and 2000 when they won the title.

Netherlands

The Netherlands qualified for Euro 2024 after finishing second in Group B. They recorded six wins and two draws in the group stage to finish with 18 points.

Euro 2024 will be their 11th appearance in the European Championship. Die Oranje's best finish in the tournament came in 1988 when they captured the title.

Austria

Austria secured their place in Euro 2024 after they finished second in Group F in the qualifying round. They recorded six victories, one draw, and one defeat in the group stage to finish with 19 points.

Euro 2024 will be Austria's fourth appearance in the European Championship. Their best finish in the tournament came in Euro 2020 when they reached the Round of 16.

Euro 2024 Group D Schedule and Venues

Poland vs. Netherlands (Matchday 1)

Poland will open their Euro 2024 campaign against the Netherlands on June 16.

The opening game of Group D will take place at Volksparkstadion Hamburg, with kick-off set at 3:00 pm local time.

They last faced each other in the UEFA Nations League in September 2022, with the Netherlands recording a 2-0 victory.

Austria vs. France (Matchday 1)

France will open their Euro 2024 campaign against Austria on June 17.

That Group D match will take place at Düsseldorf Arena, with kick-off set at 9:00 pm local time.

They last squared off in the UEFA Nations League in September 2022, with France recording a 2-0 win.

Poland vs. Austria (Matchday 2)

Poland and Austria will lock horns on June 21 for their second game in Group D.

That match will take place at Olympiastadion Berlin, with kick-off set at 6:00 pm local time.

They last squared off in a Euro qualifier back in 2019, with Poland and Austria playing out a goalless draw.

Netherlands vs. France (Matchday 2)

Powerhouse teams France and the Netherlands will square off on June 21 in the marquee match of Group D.

That contest will take place at Leipzig Stadium, with kick-off set at 9:00 pm local time.

They last locked horns in a Euro qualifier last year, with France recording a 2-1 victory.

Netherlands vs. Austria (Matchday 3)

The Netherlands and Austria will lock horns on June 25 for their final match in Group D.

That game will be staged at Olympiastadion Berlin, with kick-off set at 6:00 pm local time.

They last squared off at Euro 2020, with the Netherlands recording a 2-0 win in their group-stage showdown.

France vs. Poland (Matchday 3)

France and Poland will square off on June 25 for their final game in Group D.

That match will be staged at Signal Iduna Park, with kick-off set at 6:00 pm local time.

They last locked horns at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with France recording a 3-1 win in their Round of 16 clash.

Ukraine and Georgia qualify for Euro 2024

Sports Brief also reported on Ukraine and Georgia securing qualification for Euro 2024.

Ukraine defeated Iceland 2-1 to punch their ticket to Germany via the play-off route.

Georgia also advanced to Euro 2024 with their win over Greece on Tuesday night.
