  • Joao Cancelo has named Mohamed Salah as his most difficult opponent
  • The defender is currently on loan at Barcelona FC from Manchester City
  • Salah has scored 207 goals in 337 appearances for the Merseyside club

Joao Cancelo has been away from the Premier League for over one season but the Barcelona defender is still weary of Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.

Salah, who is regarded as one of the greatest players to graze the English topflight since joining the Reds from Italian giants Roma in 2107, has crossed paths with Cancelo multiple times in England.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Cancelo has picked the Liverpool forward as the player who troubled him the most during his stint with Manchester City in the Premier League.

The Portuguese defender joined the Citizens in 2019 from Juventus and was rated as one of the best defenders in the league during his short stint with the club before falling out with Pep Guardiola.

Cancelo won three Premier League titles with Manchester City but was sent on loan to Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich, mid-season in 2022/23 before joining Barcelona last summer again on loan.

Why Salah could leave Liverpool

Meanwhile, former Chelsea star Tony Cascarino expects Salah to leave Liverpool this summer if the Egyptian forward receives another mega offer from the Saudi Pro League, talkSPORT reports.

The 31-year-old forward was the subject of a £150million offer from Al Ittihad last summer but the bid was swiftly rejected by the Reds who were unwilling to sell their most-prized asset.

Salah, who has scored 15 Premier League goals this season, is speculated to still be of interest to the top clubs in Saudi Arabia who could make another mega offer to Liverpool for the forward this summer.

Salah sets new Man United record

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Salah scored his 13th goal against Manchester United, as Liverpool were eliminated from the FA Cup after losing 4-3 in extra time at Old Trafford.

After giving the Reds a 2-1 lead just before half-time, the Liverpool attacker became the first player in history to score in five successive away games at Old Trafford.

It is Salah's biggest goal total (13) against a single opponent in his career, and it came only days after he scored his 20th goal of the season for Liverpool for the eighth straight season.
