Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has taken to social media to poke fun at the Black Stars following Nigeria's friendly win over Ghana.

The West African rivals faced off for the first time since 2022 in a friendly in Marrakech as goals from Cyriel Dessers and Ademola Lookman handed the AFCON finalist a 2-1 win.

It was the first time Nigeria have beaten Ghana in a match since 2006 in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Troost-Ekong, who was named the best player at the 2023 AFCON, missed the game due to to injury.

However, he followed the match from his base in Finland, where he is receiving treatment.

"Food is ready. Well done Super Eagles," wrote the defender on X, formerly Twitter.

Ghana and Nigeria have been at each other throats over which country has the best Jollof, with matches between the two nations dubbed as the 'Jollof' derby.

Both nations are using the games as preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.

Meanwhile, in a fiercely contested game, Rangers forward Dessers opened the scoring from the spot before second-half substitute Lookman added the second from an Alex Iwobi assist.

Ghana pulled one back late in the game through striker Jordan Ayew.

The Super Eagles will next face the Eagles of Mali while the Black Stars engage the Cranes of Uganda on Tuesday in Morocco, as reported by Ghana Soccernet.

Nigeria beat Ghana in friendly

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Nigeria defeated arch-rivals Ghana in an international friendly in Morocco after Cyriel Dessers and Ademola Lookman scored at either side of the half before a late consolation from Jordan Ayew

The Super Eagles made their intentions clear early in the game after Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho forced goalkeeper Lawrence At Zigi into a brilliant save.

Iheanacho was again denied by a defensive block following a quick interchange of passes with Fulham's Alex Iwobi.
