Without a doubt, the Belgian played his best football in his early and mid-twenties, when he was at Chelsea, but which season does he rank as his best?

While speaking to Standard, Hazard singled out his second season with the Blues as the best of his career.

Hazard's 'best season'

After spending five years at Lille, a young Hazard secured a famous move to West London in 2012, signing for Chelsea for £32 million.

His debut campaign was not spectacular by any stretch, but he had decent numbers, scoring 13 goals across all competitions in the 2012/13 campaign.

It was during the subsequent campaign that Hazard properly announced himself in the Premier League, as he was practically unplayable under the guidance of Jose Mourinho.

"I spent seven years there… it was the best memory of my football career," the retired winger said.

He added: "My best season was the second season with Mourinho when we won the Premier League and League Cup.

"The manager was the Special One, and it's so hard to explain the feelings after games with the fans all happy."

Under Mourinho, Hazard scored an impressive 19 goals, a feat that put him in line for some prestigious individual honours.

Between 2013 and 2015, he picked up the FWA Footballer of the Year, PFA Players' Player of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season.

What next for Hazard?

Since calling it quits on his football career in October 2023, Hazard has still been involved in the beautiful game by taking part in charity matches.

He is set to grace the football pitch once again in a Soccer Aid match at Stamford Bridge later this year, per 90Min.

When Mourinho said, “I prefer not to speak”

Sports Brief also reported on the football match that made Jose Mourinho make the infamous “I prefer not to speak” comment.

It happened in April 2014, as Mourinho’s Chelsea suffered a shock defeat to Aston Villa as their title ambitions took a huge blow.
