Former African Footballer of the Year recipient, Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor, has expressed gratitude to Cristiano Ronaldo for what he considers the pinnacle of his footballing journey during his time at Real Madrid.

From France to England, and even a brief stint in South America with Olimpia Asuncion in Paraguay, he has experienced the diversity of football.

However, it was his tenure at Real Madrid that left an indelible mark on him. Joining the Spanish giants on loan from Manchester City in January 2011, the lanky striker made a significant impact, scoring eight goals in 22 appearances across all competitions during his short stay, per Transfermarkt.

Although he wished for a longer stay at the Bernabeu, various circumstances prevented it, including a heartfelt request from his late brother to the club not to retain him.

How Ronaldo created Adebayor's 'best' career moment

Adebayor cherishes his time at Real Madrid, particularly highlighting the 2011 Copa del Rey final, where Ronaldo's header in extra time handed Madrid a 1-0 win against FC Barcelona, as the pinnacle of his career.

He attributes much of his positive experience at the Spanish giants to the Portuguese phenom, whose influence and camaraderie enriched his time at the club.

“Being part of Real Madrid is beautiful," he began as quoted by MadridXtra.
"I think my best moment was the victory in the Copa del Rey, beating Barcelona 1-0 with [Cristiano] Ronaldo's goal; winning that trophy as a Madrid player is the best moment I have lived in my career.”

After retiring from professional football, the former Arsenal forward has taken on roles as an ambassador for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and has also delved into football punditry.

Why Adebayor left Arsenal, striker breaks silence

In a previous report, Sports Brief covered Emmanuel Adebayor's discussion regarding the tense relationship he experienced with Premier League club Arsenal.

The former footballer departed Arsenal to join Manchester City in 2009, a move that surprised many given his pivotal role with the Gunners.

Speculation circulated that his departure was financially motivated. However, in a candid interview, the 39-year-old revealed that he felt he was forced out of the club due to mistreatment.
