Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, faces uncertainty ahead of the Serie A clash against table-toppers Inter Milan on Sunday, March 17.

The Nigerian caught a muscle injury in the Champions League loss to Barcelona at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium on Tuesday, March 12.

The 25-year-old was training separately compelling him to train separately from the team on Friday, casting doubts over his availability for the crucial fixture at San Siro.

Osimhen's absence would be a significant blow for the Serie A reigning champions, as the prolific striker has notched 13 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions this season, as reported by Complete Sports.

Despite recent contract negotiations culminating in an extension until 2026, his future at the club remains uncertain, with a staggering €130 million release clause attached to his new deal. Speculation surrounding his potential departure has intensified, with English giants Chelsea and French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League contenders Arsenal, all vying for his signature.

While the Blues initially showed keen interest in acquiring his services, recent reports suggest their pursuit may be losing momentum. as reported by Team Talk. Notably, PSG appears to be gaining confidence in their bid to land the African Player of The Year, reportedly meeting his wage demands comfortably.

The Super Eagles star has also reportedly expressed interest in playing Premier League football, as reported by Goal.

Arsenal hold talks with Osimhen’s agent

Sports Brief reported that Arsenal’s Sporting Director, Edu, reportedly met with Osimhen’s agent in 2022 before they ended up signing Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.

The Gunners are expected to sign a new striker in the summer, and there are plenty of options, but the Napoli ace seems to be top priority for the London club when the transfer window opens.

Reignited form after his return from the 2023 AFCON has brought the spotlight back on the striker after netting five goals in five games.
