  • Edu Gasper reportedly chatted with Victor Osimhen’s agent
  • Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in the Napoli striker
  • Osimhen’s release clause at Napoli is believed to be €130M

Arsenal’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen seems to be gathering momentum as the Gunners look to add the Napoli forward to their star-studded squad next season.

The North London club have become one of the leading clubs interested in signing the 25-year-old Nigerian forward, with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain also placing the striker on their wish list.

According to The Hard Tackle, Arsenal’s Sporting Director, Edu, reportedly met with Osimhen’s agent in 2022 before the Gunners ended up signing Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.

Arsenal are expected to sign a new striker in the summer, and there are plenty of options, but the Napoli ace seems to be top priority for the London club when the transfer window opens.

The Serie A champions have made it clear they will demand nothing less than the €130 million release clause set in Osimhen's recent contract, should any of the European top clubs come for his services in the summer.

Osimhen tipped for big summer move

Meanwhile, former England internationals Owen Hargreaves and Glenn Hoddle have tipped Napoli’s Osimhen for a 'big move' to the Premier League in the summer, Eurosport reports.

The 25-year-old’s reignited form after his return from the Africa Cup of Nations has put the spotlight back on him after netting five goals in five games for Napoli in the Italian Serie A.

Chelsea was reportedly Osimhen’s favourite team growing up and the Blues are among the clubs interested in signing him, but they will have to contend with other Premier League sides.

Capello berates Osimhen after UCL loss

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Fabio Capello was disappointed in how Osimhen performed against Barcelona after Napoli were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League.

He stated the 25-year-old forward was not at his usual best against Xavi’s team and struggled against the opposition defence, winning just one aerial duel in the entire game.

Osimhen had scored the equaliser for Napoli in the first leg, which ended in a 1-1 draw at home in Italy, but he appeared a shadow of his usual self in the return fixture.
