Winners and Losers of Liverpool vs Man City

Winner: Arsenal

The Gunners and their fans will be feeling ecstatic this morning as they woke up with the Premier League lead with just 10 matches remaining this season.

Arsenal maintained their lead at the top of the table following the draw between Manchester City and Liverpool on Sunday.

They share the same number of points with the Reds but hold the advantage thanks to their superior goal difference.

Winners: Neutrals

The Premier League billed Sunday's clash between the Reds and the defending champions as the biggest game of the season.

The showdown lived up to the hype, with both teams playing out a pulsating draw. Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp's sides both went for the win in this contest, knowing that getting three points would bolster their title aspirations.

They combined for 29 shot attempts, with each team having six shots on target. It was a good advert for the Premier League, with both clubs producing entertaining football from start to finish.

Winner: Virgil van Dijk

The Reds captain proved once and for all that he is the league's best defender, stopping Haaland's vaunted attack in their showdown on Sunday.

Haaland, who leads the league in scoring with 18 goals, had a tough day in the office, recording just one shot attempt against Liverpool.

Losers: De Bruyne and Haaland

Many expected City stars Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne to take centre stage in the game against Liverpool. They have been in outstanding form for the defending champions since returning from their respective injuries this year.

Haaland has been scoring goals for fun once again, leading the Golden Boot race in both the Premier League and Champions League.

De Bruyne, on the other hand, had scored two goals and dished out 11 assists in 11 appearances since his comeback from the hamstring injury he suffered in the opening game.

The dynamic duo struggled, however, on Sunday as they were kept at bay by Liverpool's sterling defence. De Bruyne created just three chances and completed just 16 of 25 passes for a 64% passing rate.

Such was the Belgian's ineffectiveness that Guardiola decided to replace him in the 69th minute, much to his dismay, per The Mirror.

Haaland only managed just one shot and lost possession five times. He had one touch in Liverpool's box on Sunday as he failed to get his customary service from his City teammates, per CBS Sports.

Losers: Liverpool

Every point counts in this year's title race. That being said, the draw result for Liverpool seemed like two points lost for the Reds, given their excellent form at Anfield the past two seasons.

Liverpool had not tasted defeat in their previous 25 league matches at Anfield, recording 20 wins and five draws before Sunday's contest.

A win over Manchester City would have given them a four-point lead over the defending champions with just 10 games remaining.

They were denied a penalty in the dying minutes of the match, forcing them to settle for a stalemate.

Loser: Ederson

Manchester City may miss one of their key men for their upcoming games after Ederson suffered an injury in the draw against Liverpool.

He was replaced in the 56th minute after colliding with Darwin Nunez inside the box. Ederson has been a vital cog for City in the league this season, recording eight clean sheets.

Premier League clean sheet leaders

Sports Brief recently reported on the Premier League Golden Glove race.

David Raya leads the league with nine clean sheets heading into Matchday 29.

Three players are tied for second place with eight shutouts, including Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana.
