  • Emmanuel Petit has given his prediction for Victor Osimhen's next football destination
  • The French legend believes Arsenal lacks the financial power to lure the Nigerian star
  • However, Gabriel Jesus has failed to live up to the expectations for Mikel Arteta's side

Former French football star, Emmanuel Petit, has weighed in on the transfer speculation surrounding Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen.

The former Arsenal man suggested the Nigerian is more inclined towards Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain than the Gunners.

Amid the Londoners' pursuit of a top-tier striker to bolster their attacking output, Petit is doubtful Osimhen will join them anytime soon.

Despite Mikel Arteta's squad displaying quality, there remains a notable absence of a prolific central attacker.

With Gabriel Jesus failing to live up to expectations, Petit suggests a change is due. He believes that Evan Ferguson, currently with Brighton, could offer the effectiveness and composure lacking in Jesus' game.

In the quest to enhance their striking options, Arsenal have been linked with several prominent forwards, including Osimhen, Brentford's Ivan Toney, and Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres.

However, Petit concurs that Arsenal may lag behind Man United in the race for the Super Eagles star's signature.

"I think Osimhen is more likely to move elsewhere - for example, to Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester United, because they simply have more money," Petit said, as reported by Team Talk.

The Red Devils' recent acquisition by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS group, as reported by Sky News, could be followed by a 'statement signing'.

With substantial funds, United's pursuit of Osimhen could materialise, potentially catapulting them back into contention for top honours.

The Premier League giants seem more than capable of matching Napoli's asking price and it could be a worthwhile investment on their part.

Osimhen tallied 31 goals last season and has 13 this season, underscoring his potential to elevate a prospective club to greater heights.

Napoli coach Francesco Calzona backs Osimhen

Sports Brief also reported that Napoli's caretaker coach, Francesco Calzona, expressed optimism about Osimhen reclaiming his form.

He stressed the significance of the Nigerian's role alongside Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, highlighting their resilience amid a challenging season.
