Tottenham Hotspur star, Richarlison, appeared to aim a thinly veiled dig at Arsenal for losing out on the Premier League title.

The Gunners pushed Manchester City to the final day of the 2023/2024 season, but it was not enough, as they finished two points behind their rivals.

Despite a 2-1 win over Everton on Sunday, May 19, the Gunners needed Manchester City to drop points against the Hammers to have any hopes of winning a first title in 20 years.

But it wasn’t meant to be for the North London side, who will have to wait a bit longer for silverware.

Richarlison’s subtle dig at Arsenal

Amid different reactions on social media to Arsenal’s close shave with the title, Richarlison appeared to rejoice that his team’s North London rivals were ending the season trophy-less.

According to BBC, Spurs secured fifth place on Sunday with a 3-0 win over relegated Sheffield United in a game in which Dejan Kulusevski scored twice.

Richarlison missed the game through injury, but the Brazilian wasted no time going on social media after the final round of matches.

He shared a video of a child crying before bursting into laughter. Richarlison captioned the photo with a grinning face emoji.

From the outside, the post suggested Richarlison was distraught that Arsenal finished the season above Tottenham but was delighted the Gunners lost in the title race.

Richarlison’s controversial ways

This is not the first time Richarlison has courted controversy with his social media activity.

On May 1, 2024, he appeared to agree with a post slamming his international teammate Gabriel Magalhães.

According to Football London, the online antics came after the two Brazilians clashed in the North London derby, where Gabriel’s Gunners emerged 3-2 winners.

Richarlison could leave Tottenham

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on the players who could leave Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, with Richarlison headlining the list.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is reportedly angling towards a squad haul in the summer after recently reiterating the need for change in his side.
