Despite facing criticism for his previous displays and lack of efficiency in front of goal, Nunez found redemption with a dramatic strike, securing a crucial victory for Liverpool against Nottingham Forest.

Nunez's recent goal adds to his impressive tally of 14 goals and 11 assists this season, per Transfermarkt, highlighting his significant contribution to the Red's pursuit of a historic quadruple.

Suarez heaps praise on Liverpool's Nunez

Despite leaving Anfield 10 years ago, Suarez maintains a keen interest in his former club's fortunes, particularly their thrilling win against Nottingham.

In that pivotal match, the former Benfica hitman emerged from the bench to score a stoppage-time winner, ensuring Jurgen Klopp's charges maintained their position at the summit of the Premier League.

Meanwhile, El Pistolero also enjoyed a fruitful outing for Inter Miami in the MLS, ending his three-game goal drought with a brace and an assist in the Florida Derby against Orlando City.

And on the back of his former side's late win, the veteran forward, renowned for his goal-scoring prowess, was quick to reserve high praise for Nunez for his decisive contribution to Liverpool's pursuit of a historic quadruple.

"Yes, I saw [the goal]. I am so happy for Liverpool, and I am so happy for Darwin. He is one of the best strikers in the world today," he said as quoted by GOAL.

Fans sing Nunez praises

Sports Brief also reported that football fans singled out Nunez for praise following his goal-scoring heroics for Liverpool, which earned Jurgen Klopp's men a vital win in the Premier League.

Opta Statistics revealed that Nunez's goal marked the latest match-winning goal scored by a Liverpool player on record in the Premier League and the 10th latest overall (98:38).

As Liverpool prepares to face Manchester City in a highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash at Anfield, Nunez aims to maintain his recent impressive form.
