Pitso Mosimane's Saudi Arabian adventure took a sharp turn for the worse as his Abha FC side were thrashed 4-0 by relegation rivals Al Akhdood.

The demoralizing defeat plunged the side back into the relegation zone with just five games remaining in the Saudi Pro League.

Mosimane's men started brightly, but a 40th-minute opener for the hosts by Solomon Kvirkvelia shifted the momentum.

As reported by iDiski Times, Yassen Al-Zubaidi doubled the lead just after halftime, leaving Abha with a mountain to climb.

Captain Saad Bguir missed a golden opportunity to reduce the deficit from the penalty spot in the 61st minute, further compounding Mosimane's woes. Juan Pedroza added a third for Al Akhdood in the 74th minute, effectively ending Abha's hopes of a comeback. Abdulazizi Al Hatila completed the rout in injury time,.

The defeat was a bitter pill for the former Al Ahly manager, who has collected just 11 points in 10 games since taking charge in January.

Mosimane's remaining fixtures with Abha

Abha's remaining fixtures include a daunting clash against league leaders Al Hilal next week, making their survival bid even more challenging.

Four of their last five games in May will be played at the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium, where they will hope to draw strength from their passionate local fans.

The pressure is on Mosimane to deliver. As reported by Goal, he faces a race against time to prevent Abha's descent into the lower leagues, echoing the daunting task he faced during his previous stint in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ahli.

Mosimane responds to journalist’s Criticism of tactics

Sports Brief reported that Mosimane fired back at a journalist who questioned his defensive strategy following their victory over Al-Fateh on April 7.

Abha rose out of the relegation zone after securing a crucial win against Slaven Bilic's team.

The match's hero was former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, Grzegorz Krychowiak, who scored a brace.
