  • The Premier League's top three teams will all see action on Matchday 27
  • Liverpool and Arsenal will have road games on Saturday and Monday, respectively
  • Manchester City will host Manchester United in the Manchester derby on Sunday

The Premier League title race is heating up.

Only two points separate Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal at the top of the table heading into this weekend's matches.

Premier League Matchday 27 Schedule

Nottingham Forest vs. Liverpool (March 2)

Liverpool will be the first among the top 3 teams to see action on Matchday 27. They will face Nottingham Forest on the road, with their showdown set to take place at 3 pm local time on Saturday.

The Reds currently lead the Premier League, scoring 60 points from 26 matches. They can extend their lead over Manchester City to four points with a win over Forest.

They did just that in their first league meeting this season, with Liverpool recording a comprehensive 3-0 win last October. Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, and Mohamed Salah scored the goals in that matchup.

Salah won't be able to replicate his goal-scoring heroics in today's contest as he is still out due to injury, per Fox Sports.

Manchester City vs. Manchester United (March 3)

Manchester City have the opportunity to go top of the Premier League table on Sunday if Liverpool happen to drop points against Nottingham Forest.

It won't be easy, though, as the reigning champs will face bitter rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium. That matchup is set to take place at 3:30 pm local time.

Pep Guardiola will fancy his side's chances of grabbing the victory, with Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne firing on all cylinders at the moment.

Haaland scored five goals in City's 6-2 win over Luton Town in the FA Cup last Tuesday, with De Bruyne assisting four of those, per NBC Sports.

Sheffield United vs. Arsenal (March 4)

Arsenal will be the last among the top 3 teams to take the field on Matchday 27. The Gunners will face Sheffield United on the road, with their clash set to take place at 8:00 pm local time on Monday.

Mikel Arteta's men trail City by two points in the standings heading into this weekend's matches. It's important for Arsenal to grab the maximum points at Bramall Lane for them to not lose ground in the title race.

The Gunners destroyed the Blades in their first league meeting this season at the Emirates Stadium. Eddie Nketiah starred in the 5-0 win, scoring a hat-trick.

Arsenal have won their last four matches against Sheffield United, outscoring them 12-2 during that span.

African stars in Manchester derby

Sports Brief recently ranked the top 5 Africans to play in the Manchester derby.

Topping the list is former Man City player Yaya Toure.

He scored 82 goals in 316 appearances for the Premier League side.
