  • Arsenal should not be ruled out in the race for striker Victor Osimhen
  • Chelsea and PSG are reportedly strong contenders to sign the Nigerian
  • Journalist Ben Jacobs says the Gunners are ready to meet wage demands

Arsenal remains a formidable contender in pursuing Victor Osimhen's signature for the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to insights from seasoned journalist Ben Jacobs, there somewhat promises to be a heated battle for the Nigerian striker.

The Gunners are reportedly ready to meet Osimhen's substantial wage demands alongside powerhouses Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

The transfer insider asserts that Arsenal's candidacy for Osimhen should not be dismissed, stressing that while Chelsea appears to have an edge, PSG is also aggressively eyeing the Nigerian forward.

“We still can't rule out Arsenal in the race for Osimhen. It’s also true that PSG have Osimhen very, very high on their list of targets and can move in the market because they will free up money due to Kylian Mbappe’s departure,” said Jacobs, as quoted by GiveMeSport.

Sources close to the matter indicate that the Super Eagles striker seeks an estimated weekly salary of around £250,000, a figure deemed acceptable by all three clubs vying for his services.

Under Mikel Arteta's stewardship, Arsenal are looking for a top-tier centre-forward following a challenging season grappling with deficiencies in the No. 9 role. Despite a generally positive campaign in the Premier League, Arsenal aim to bolster their attacking prowess to mount a serious title challenge.

Rumours claimed that Osimhen preferred a move to Chelsea, lured by the prospect of showcasing his talents in the Premier League. The Blues, in turn, are sparing no effort in securing the deal, enlisting the likes of club legends John Obi-Mikel and Didier Drogba to sway the decision in their favour, as reported by Pulse Sports Uganda.

Napoli boss sends warning to Osimhen

Sports Brief earlier reported that Napoli head coach Francesco Calzona warned the team, saying he would not hesitate to substitute underperforming players.

Osimhen rescued a point for the Italians in the Round of 16 UEFA Champions League clash against Barcelona on Wednesday, February 21.

Robert Lewandowski gave the Spanish champions the lead in the 60th minute, but the Super Eagles star equalised 15 minutes later to give the new boss his first point.
