  • William Gallas believes Victor Osimhen will be perfect for Chelsea
  • The Blues are one of many top European clubs interested in Osimhen
  • Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain have also shown interest in the striker

Former Premier League defender, William Gallas, is rooting for Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, to join English Premier League giants, Chelsea, in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old Napoli forward has been strongly linked with a move to England, with Arsenal and the Blues reportedly interested in signing him. Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be among his perceived suitors.

According to Complete Sports, Gallas, who compared Osimhen’s style of play to that of Didier Drogba, believes the Nigerian striker will excel if he moves to the Premier League.

"I think they [Chelsea] will sign Victor Osimhen in the summer. I don’t know Victor that well as a person, but he’s similar to Drogba.
"Didier was so strong, but with Osimhen, he is also very quick. I am sure he will do a lot of damage in the Premier League."

Osimhen signed a new contract with Napoli in December, but the deal has a £113 million release clause, which will be activated in the summer.

Chelsea to break club transfer record

Meanwhile, it is believed that Chelsea are prepared to speed up their pursuit of Osimhen, with the Blues willing to break the club’s transfer record to sign the Super Eagles forward, Chelsea Chronicles reports.

Journalist, Rudy Galetti, disclosed in a Twitter post that the Premier League club are prepared to trigger the release clause of the 25-year-old forward in order to fend off interest from the likes of PSG.

Osimhen is Chelsea’s number one target for a striker to come in at the end of this season.

Juventus urged to sign Osimhen

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Juventus forward, Alessandro Matri, underlined the importance of the Serie A club signing Osimhen, even if it meant parting ways with Dusan Vlahovic.

Napoli's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has indicated a willingness to sell the Nigerian, albeit for the right price, following speculation surrounding the future of the Super Eagles striker.

Osimhen has been listed as one of the potential replacements to cover for the departing Kylian Mbappe at PSG this summer, with numerous other European clubs said to desire his services.
