5 Africans to score in EFL Cup final

1. Mbwana Samatta

The Tanzanian forward was part of the Aston Villa squad that lost to Manchester City in the 2019-20 League Cup final.

He scored Aston Villa's only goal in the game as they lost 2-1 to the Cityzens.

2. Yaya Toure

The former Ivorian international scored for Manchester City in their 3-1 win over Sunderland in the 2013-14 season.

He also scored the winning penalty for the Cityzens against Liverpool in 2016.

3. Obafemi Martins

The former Nigerian international scored a late winner for Birmingham City against Arsenal in the 2010-11 season.

The former Inter Milan striker came on in the 83rd minute and took just six minutes to find the back of the net.

4. Joseph-Desire Job

The former Cameroon international scored one of the fastest goals in League Cup history after scoring in Middlesbrough's 2-1 win over Bolton Wanderers in 2004.

5. Didier Drogba

The Chelsea legend scored his first goal in the competition in 2005 against Chelsea and followed it up with two goals against Arsenal in the 2006-07 season. The veteran scored against Tottenham in Chelsea's loss in 2008.

The former Ivorian international's goal against Spurs made him the first player to score in three English Cup finals consecutively and ultimately made him the highest goalscorer in the final of the EFL Cup.

How much Chelsea will earn if they win EFL Cup

Sports Brief previously reported the amount of money Chelsea could earn if they win the League Cup ahead of Liverpool this season.

The new ownership has tightened the bonuses purse at the club despite spending a lot of money on new signings.
