  • Chelsea will take Liverpool in the final of this season's Carabao Cup
  • The Blues beat Middlesbrough in the semi-finals of the tournament
  • A win in the Sunday cracker will see Blues stars earn a huge bonus

Chelsea stars will get a huge bonus if they beat Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.

Mauricio Pochettino's Blues will take on Jurgen Klopp's Reds in the tournament on Sunday, February 25, at Wembley Stadium.

Victory for Chelsea in the final will signify the first major trophy of the Todd Boehly era since they took over from Roman Abramovich in May 2022.

The West London club have endured a mixed run of form and results since the exit of Abramovich, with the club on their fourth manager already.

This is despite the club spending heavily in the transfer market, which has seen Boehly and his partners splash over £1 billion on new signings over the last two years.

Be that as it may, the Sunday final could help the Stamford Bridge dwellers justify the heavy spending, with victory over Liverpool expected to also life the morale of the club.

Chelsea stars to share £500k prize money

Apparently, Chelsea stars will get just more than a medal should they overcome the Reds in the final. The Mirror reports that Pochettino's charges will share a £500,000 prize fund if they see off the Merseysiders in the Sunday cracker.

The publication reports that every player who has played in the Carabao Cup this season is entitled to the club's bonus scheme, with the bonus percentage determined by the number of minutes one featured.

Should the prize pot be divided equally, each player in Pochettino's 25-man team will then take home £20,000.

Meanwhile, the final comes at a time when Chelsea are battling a string of injuries to key players. At least eight players are likely to miss the tie, including Thiago Silva, who picked up a groin injury against Manchester City, per the Evening Standard.

EPL legend predicts Carabao Cup final

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on football pundit, Graeme Souness, making his prediction for the Carabao Cup final.

The Sunday cracker will be a repeat of the tournament's final played two years ago, where Liverpool came out tops.
