  • Pitso Mosimane has been unable to call on his Guinean striker since joining Abha Club
  • His new club sit second from bottom in the Saudi Pro League, three points from safety
  • Mosimane opened his account at Abha Club with a 1-1 SPL draw against Al-Taawoun

Every point will be treated like gold by Pitso Mosimane on his mission to avoid relegation.

The South African coach's unfinished business led him to have another crack at the Saudi Pro League, and he has accepted a difficult challenge.

Abha Club are second from bottom and are three points off their nearest rivals, Al-Tai, with Mosimane seeking some momentum going into their meeting next week.

Unfortunately for 'Jingles', Guinean forward Francois Kamano has not yet recovered from his AFCON exploits. As per SoccerLaduma, the timing could not be worse as the ever-present winger has not missed a game for Abha until now.

In Al-Fayha, Mosimane will have to contain Nigerian centre-forward, Anthony Nwakaeme, who scored twice last week as Al-Fayha ended their own losing streak.

Abha have only won four of their 20 games but one of those did come against Al-Fayha. They won the previous fixture 2-1 and are aiming for their first-ever double over Sunday's opponents, as per SPL.

In a notable statistical stalemate, home team Al-Fayha have the joint worst amount of points collected at home as well as the fewest wins at home.

Mosimane will be keen to improve on his team's away record, as they have only collected one point away from home, the lowest in the Saudi Pro League.

The teams line up at the King Salman Sports Stadium on Sunday, February 25.

How Kaizer Chiefs could land Pitso Mosimane

Sports Brief also recently reported that Mosimane remains a Kaizer Chiefs target at the end of the season.

Kaizer Chiefs have yet to appoint a permanent manager as Cavin Johnson is serving in an interim capacity.

Mosimane is on a short-term contract and any extension will be tied to him keeping Abha Club in the SPL.
