  • Pitso Mosimane could still become Kaizer Chiefs' next permanent manager despite working in Saudi Arabia
  • The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns coach recently signed a short-term deal with Saudi Pro League side, Abha Club
  • The Amakhosi are still yet to name a permanent manager since Molefi Ntseki departed the club late last year

South African tactician, Pitso Mosimane, is still being linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs despite his deal with Saudi Arabian side, Abha Club.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach was without a job for months before signing a short-term deal with the Saudi Pro League minnows.

The 59-year-old has been tasked with keeping Abha in the first division, with the club currently languishing in the SPL's relegation zone.

Mosimane's first match in charge of the club ended in a 1-1 draw against Al-Taawoun in the league.

In an interesting twist, the veteran would be available for a new job if his short-term contract is not renewed at the end of the season.

How Chiefs could land Mosimane

Kaizer Chiefs have yet to appoint a permanent manager since the departure of Molefi Ntseki, with Cavin Johnson having taken charge of the club on an interim basis.

Club owner, Kaizer Motaung, is interested in bringing Mosimane to Naturena to take on the coaching role at the end of the season, as The South African has also reported.

The report also stated the Amakhosi have the best chance to land the former Bafana Bafana coach - so long as they can table a clear project and definitive vision for him.

Mosimane discusses the challenge of leading Abha

Sports Brief earlier reported on Mosimane discussing the challenge of leading Abha Club against top players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Sadio Mane.

The Leaders of the South are currently 17th on the league table after 20 games this season, with the South African being brought in to help them stave off relegation.

Mosimane believes it will be a difficult task to handle against clubs featuring former European elite superstars, also mentioning the stark chasm in the team resources.
