  • Todd Boehly and co took over Chelsea from Roman Abramovich in May 2022
  • The American consortium has invested over £1 billion in the transfer market
  • A few of those signings have been hits, while the majority have not made an impact

The Todd Boehly-led consortium has steered Chelsea in a different direction since their £4.25 billion takeover from Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich in May 2022.

They have invested over a billion pounds on new signings, completely overhauling the squad Thomas Tuchel won three trophies with two years ago, but the majority of their recruits have been misses.

Some of those signed by the club have left without making an impact, including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kalidou Koulibaly.

Sports Brief looks at five players signed by the Americans who should be let go this summer.

5 Boehly signings Chelsea should sell

1. Noni Madueke

The club invested £35mil into signing the Nigerian-English winger in January 2023. He has failed to consistently make an impact due to fitness issues and inconsistencies. Per The Athletic, he was willing to move away on loan in January, but the club blocked it.

2. Mykhailo Mudryk

Chelsea went to war with Arsenal to sign the Ukrainian winger from Shakhtar Donetsk for £ 88 million, including add-ons, but it's proving to be a needless battle as he continues to struggle. Per Goal, former boss Thomas Tuchel wanted him at Bayern Munich on loan in January, but the Blues refused.

3. Wesley Fofana

A £75mil signing from Leicester City in August 2022, the French defender is yet to play a significant number of games due to injury. He ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in training at the start of the season and may not feature this season.

4. Benoit Badiashile

Badiashile made a solid start to life at Stamford Bridge when he joined for £33mil from Monaco in January 2023. A groin injury ended his season last year, and he is currently out with the same. When he is fit, he has delivered more bad games than good this season. Levi Colwill is settling in at left centre-back and could prompt a move away with AC Milan interested.

5. Raheem Sterling

The most experienced player on the Blues' books after Thiago Silva, but one that frustrates the fans the most. More is expected from a player with over 10 years of Premier League experience. At 29, he won't get better, and the club should move him if a suitable offer arrives.

Enzo Fernandez commits future to Chelsea

Sports Brief reported on Enzo Fernandez committing his future to Chelsea after his free kick goal against Aston Villa following rumours he wanted to leave the club.

The Argentina midfielder moved to London for £ 106.8 million from Benfica after his heroics for his country at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, but the team has not been what he thinks it would be.
