Mohamed Salah will be regarded as one of the greatest African players to have played in the English Premier League, going by the records the Egyptian set while playing for Liverpool.

The 31-year-old striker has enjoyed tremendous success since joining the Reds from AS Roma in the 2017/18 season, becoming one of the EPL’s top scorers since his arrival in England.

According to the Premier League, Salah has scored a whopping 154 goals in 252 appearances for Liverpool, amassing a total of 165 victories and 33 losses with Jurgen Klopp’s team.

The Egyptian forward played a major role in helping the Reds win the Premier League ahead of Manchester City in the 2019-20 season, claiming the UEFA Champions League in the same season.

Sports Brief, alongside All Football, has highlighted the top five records held by Salah after another remarkable display for the Reds in their 3-1 victory against Brentford on Saturday.

Salah's top 5 Premier League records

5. Most goals scored against Manchester United in a single season

Salah had a fantastic season in 2021/22, scoring 23 goals and sharing the Premier League Golden Boot with Son Heung-min.

Manchester United, one of Liverpool's arch-rivals, was among those who suffered as a result of his prolific goal-scoring. The Liverpool attacker scored a hat-trick in the away game at Old Trafford as the Reds convincingly won 5-0.

The 31-year-old became the only Premier League player to score a hat trick against Man United at Old Trafford.

Salah also grabbed a brace against United in the opposite encounter at Anfield, bringing his season total to five goals, surpassing former Liverpool striker, Robbie Fowler, who scored four goals versus United in a single season.

4. Most EPL Player of the Month awards in a single season

Despite some hurdles, Salah won the Premier League Player of the Month award three times in the 2017-18 season, his first with Liverpool. The Egyptian was in spectacular form that season, scoring 32 goals in 36 appearances.

Aside from the Egyptian, no player in the league has won the Player of the Month title more than twice. This only emphasises how dangerous the Liverpool forward was in the 2017-18 season.

3. Fewest games to reach 100 EPL goal involvements by a non-European player

Salah has scored 157 goals for Liverpool and assisted 64 times. Interestingly, his first 100 goal involvements came in just 116 games, averaging 0.82 goals per game.

Sergio Aguero previously held the record for the fastest non-European player to reach 100 goals, doing so in 118 games. Salah outperformed Aguero despite playing on the flanks, demonstrating his incredible effect on Liverpool.

2. Most EPL goals scored by an African player

Scoring 118 goals in five seasons is surely no joke, but Salah has made it appear simple. Despite his brief tenure at Chelsea, the Egyptian currently has 154 league goals to his record.

Salah has now overtaken the famous Didier Drogba's record of 104 Premier League goals for any African player. The 30-year-old has now scored as many league goals as Liverpool icon, Steven Gerrard.

1. Most goals in a single 38-game EPL season

Salah held this record until last season when Manchester City forward, Erling Haaland, surpassed the feat set by the Egyptian forward in 2018.

With the introduction of the 38-game format, players have struggled to reach 20 goals in the EPL.

Salah is one of the few players to have scored more than 30 goals in the 38-game format. In fact, with 32 league goals in 2017-18, he set the record for most goals scored in a single season.

The record was previously held by Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez, both of them scoring 31 goals respectively in a single season.

Salah sets new EPL record

Earlier, Sports Brief also reported that Salah is the latest to score and provide an assist in more than 30 Premier League matches.

The Egyptian forward netted in Liverpool’s victory against Brentford on Saturday, February 17, taking his tally for the season to 15 goals.

Salah has now scored and assisted in 30 different Premier League games, with only three iconic players having done so more times.
