Premier League Club Begin Discussions to Sign Super Eagles Star Victor Osimhen

Chelsea have reportedly begun talks to sign Victor Osimhen from reigning Serie A champion Napoli in the hope of beating their competitors to the signing of the Super Eagles striker next summer.

The Blues are in the market for a marquee striker and have identified the 25-year-old forward has their top transfer target with Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain also rumoured to be in the market for the forward.

According to The Hard Tackle, Chelsea has the funds to trigger Osimhen’s clause this summer, and they have already held initial talks to secure his services ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The Blues are willing to meet the striker's whopping €130million asking price after the Super Eagles forward renewed his deal with the reigning Serie A champions mid-season until 2026.

Osimhen, who helped Nigeria secure a silver medal at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, has registered a total of eight goals and three assists in 18 appearances throughout this campaign for Napoli.

Arsenal could beat Chelsea for Osimhen

Meanwhile, Arsenal could beat Premier League rivals Chelsea to the signature of Victor Osimhen as both London clubs continue their push to sign the Super Eagles striker from Napoli.

According to Just Arsenal, the 25-year-old forward is inclined to join a club competing in the UEFA Champions League, which currently positions the Gunners as the favourites ahead of the Blues.

Arsenal are presently placed third in the Premier League table and stands a good chance of qualifying for next season’s UCL, unlike Chelsea, who are currently ranked 10th on the EPL table.

Osimhen likely to miss Barcelona clash

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Napoli are concerned about the fitness of star forward Victor Osimhen ahead of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match against Barcelona on Wednesday, February 21.

The 25-year-old Super Eagles attacker was not included in the Serie A champions' squad for Saturday's 1-1 home draw against Genoa because he had only returned to training the day before.

Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri disclosed after the game that Osimhen was out of shape after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, but he wants to be fit for the match against Barcelona.
