Victor Osimhen: Premier League Club Reportedly 'Closing in' on Nigeria and Napoli Striker

Latest reports from England have it that Premier League giants, Arsenal, are closing in on the signing of Nigerian international, Victor Osimhen.

Agents of the club were said to have met with the striker's representatives in a bid to close off the deal ahead of the summer transfer window.

Arsenal are reportedly ready to rival Chelsea for the signature of the Napoli ace, who had an outstanding season with Napoli in Serie A last year.

Last season, the star forward netted 26 league goals to help the Partenopei to the Scudetto for the first time in more than three decades.

He also won the Golden Boot, smashing George Weah's long-term record to become the African with the most goals in the Italian top flight.

Several clubs are said to be jostling for Osimhen's signature present but in December, the 25-year-old signed a new contract with Napoli.

Club president, Aurelio De Laurentiis has since confessed this extension was done with the full knowledge the striker would be moving on.

Could Osimhen play for Arsenal next season?

French giants, Paris Saint-Germain and La Liga kings, Real Madrid have also been linked with the former Lille of France striker.

However, Osimhen has proudly expressed his admiration for the Premier League amid interest from London club, Chelsea.

The Mirror has since reported that Arsenal already met with the Nigerian superstar's agent in 2022 to discuss the situation.

Although it is known that there is a release clause in his new contract with Napoli, the exact figures are yet to be confirmed.

Osimhen addresses his future

Sports Brief earlier reported on Osimhen addressing his club football future despite signing a new contract with the Italian champions last month.

The 25-year-old has started the 2023/24 season slowly compared to the previous term but remains one of the best centre-forwards in the world.

Osimhen has scored only eight goals and provided just three assists in 18 games this season as the Serie A champions struggles for form this season.
