Once a Buccaneer, always a Buccaneer.

Ghana’s Richard Ofori may be in Ivory Coast for the Africa Cup of Nations, but the goalkeeper is still representing his club side, Orlando Pirates.

Richard Ofori is loyal to both Ghana and Orlando Pirates.

Signed from Maritzburg United in 2020, Ofori has become an essential part of the Pirates team while also representing Ghana at a national level.

Now, while looking to win the big one with the Black Stars, Ofori is still showing love for his club.

During the team’s photoshoot ahead of the tournament, the shot-stopper was spotted throwing up the skull and crossbones salute. The action is synonymous with Pirates.

Ofori drops down Pirates’ pecking order

After making 55 appearances for the DStv Premiership side and winning three trophies, Ofori has seen his time in the first-team squad become more limited.

Ofori has fallen behind Sipho Chaine and Melusi Buthelezi in the pecking order and only made three appearances this season for the South African side, FAR Post reported.

Chris Hughton has faith in Ofori

Despite his lack of game time this season, Ghana coach Chris Hughton has complete faith in the keeper.

Hughton recently touched on Ofori’s inclusion in the team despite not playing regularly for Pirates, saying that he never lets the national team down.

Ofori will be looking to repay that faith during Ghana's AFCON campaign. The Black Stars will open their account against Cape Verde on January 14 at 10pm before taking on Egypt on January 18. Their last group game will be against Mozambique on January 22.

Ofori performs cultural dance during AFCON arrival

Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Ofori has some fancy footwork on and off the football field, Sports Brief reported.

The Orlando Pirates keeper made headlines when he touched down in Abidjan for the AFCON tournament.

Ofori and his Black Stars teammates arrived in style before he joined in the cultural dances at the airport.
