The best African football players compete in the annual AFCON Tournament as Ivory Coast hosts the 34th Cup of African Nations (CAN). Which teams are in the African Cup of Nations 2023?

There were two qualification rounds, and fifty-four (54) teams participated. In the first stage, known as the preliminary round, twelve teams ranked last in the FIFA world rankings faced off in a two-legged knockout tournament. From which there were six winners.

In the second round, when 48 teams competed, these six teams were divided into twelve groups of four, along with the 42 teams that finished higher. Each twelve group had a winner and a runner-up who advanced to the finals. Host qualification was automatic. Thus, 24 teams were able to secure a spot in this competition:

The tournament is scheduled to begin on January 13, 2024, and run until February 11, 2024. On January 13, at Abidjan's Alassane Ouattara Stadium, the Ivory Coast hosts will play host to Guinea-Bissau. In the end, the match on February 11 will take place at the same venue.

African Cup Of Nations 2023 Tickets

On November 9, 2023, ticket sales began online and have been available to the public since November 13, 2023. Yamoussoukro, Bouaké, Korhogo, San Pedro, Grand Bassam, Cocody, Plateau, Bingerville, Songon, Anyama, Yopougon, and Adjamé are some of the Ivorian cities where tickets can be bought in person or online.

The tickets are available in three different price points:

  • Category 3: 5,000 FCFA (about 8 US Dollars)
  • Category 2: 10,000 FCFA (about 16 US Dollars)
  • Category 1: 15,000 FCFA (about 24 US Dollars)

For the four-week event, six locations across five cities in the Ivory Coast will serve as venues. There are three venues with a combined capacity of just 20,000, with Abidjan's Alassan Ouattara Stadium having the most significant capacity at 60,000.
