Thiago Silva isn’t losing hope.
He has called for unity after Chelsea suffered a 1-0 loss to Middlesbrough in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Tuesday night.
The Brazilian defender took to social media to address the fans after he talked with angry Blues supporters following the League Cup defeat.
Silva frustrated after Carabao Cup loss
Silva shared his disappointment with the result on X (formerly Twitter), but he remained adamant that the Blues can turn things around, writing:
"I am the first one to feel frustration for today’s result. But there is still the second leg and we will give everything to reach the final."
He added that they have to be together now more than ever. He closed his message by thanking the fans for being with the team on the day.
Silva talks to angry Chelsea fans
Silva had earlier tried to calm down irate Chelsea fans, who were bitterly disappointed with the team’s performance in the League Cup tie, per Talksport.
He approached them to applaud their support and looked to have departed on amicable terms. The 39-year-old was seen high-fiving one fan after they had an intense discussion regarding the match.
The good news for Silva and Chelsea is that their League Cup dreams are not over.
They will face Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge in the second leg. A two-goal win in that match would see the Blues advance to the Carabao Cup final.
