  • Pitso Mosimane remains one of the most sought-after coaches on the continent
  • The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach recently departed Emirati club Al Wahda
  • The South African veteran is now being linked to another Saudi Pro League club

The impeccable coaching prowess of Pitso Mosimane continues to attract a flurry of interest across the African continent and beyond.

The former Bafana Bafana manager recorded tremendous success with Mamelodi Sundowns and, more recently, Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

Mosimane has been heavily linked with a return to Sundowns as well as struggling Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants, Kaizer Chiefs.

However, amid the flurry of speculation about Mosimane’s future, a report of the 59-year-old fancying a coaching job in the Saudi Pro League has emerged.

Mosimane fancies Saudi League offer

According to a post on X by Goal South Africa, the veteran - who is said to have attracted interest from SPL strugglers, Abha Club - would be open to a return to the Middle East.

The league outfit are currently one of the basement clubs of the league and are at true risk of relegation and could certainly use a coach of Mosimane's stature to survive.

While he is seen as a potential messiah, it should be noted Abha Club still boasts elite players, including former Paris Saint-Germain star Grzegorz Kyrchowiak, Cameroon’s Karl Toko Ekambi, and former AC Milan shot-stopper Ciprian Tatarasanu.

With 15 games left to salvage what is left of a largely underwhelming campaign, the Abha-based club are also expected to part ways with interim manager, George Timis soon.

The report also states that talks between Mosimane's representative and the Saudi Pro League club are advancing, and a deal is expected to be reached soon.

Mosimane has amassed a haul of titles in his coaching career, which includes three CAF Super Cups, three CAF Champions League titles, five PSL championships, and one Egyptian Premier League crown, as reported by Fotmob.

Why Mosimane has not coached in Europe

Sports Brief also previously reported on Bafana Bafana manager, Hugo Broos responding to Pitso Mosimane's claims about Europe’s elite sides.

The South African veteran had stated that many European clubs preferred to hire managers from somewhere other than the African continent.

This claim, however, was firmly refuted by the current South Africa head coach, who appeared not to share the same opinion as the 59-year-old.
