- Two goals in the final minutes handed the Gunners a defeat
- Luis Diaz Snr was spotted celebrating his son’s goal in the stands
Liverpool eliminated Arsenal from the FA Cup with a 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium, and it was a joy to behold for a special guest who is enjoying freedom after a torrid end to 2023.
The two sides met for the second time in weeks in the FA Cup third round after a pulsating 1-1 draw at Anfield in the Premier League, and it was the away team who took the victory.
The Gunners wasted a plethora of chances to seal the game early, with the front trio of Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson and Kai Havertz all wasting goalscoring opportunities.
A Jakub Kiwior own goal from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s set piece and a ruthless no-look shot from Luis Diaz in the last minute won it for the Reds and slimmed Arsenal’s chances of silverware.

As seen in a video recirculated on X by Emirates FA Cup, Luis Diaz Snr was spotted celebrating his son’s ferocious last-minute goal with the fans in the away end.
Per BBC Sports, the Colombian winger’s family have been in Liverpool since December following the release of the 55-year-old after a 12-day kidnapping ordeal.
Mane Diaz was kidnapped on October 28, 2023, with his wife, Cilenis Marulanda, who was rescued hours later. The Colombian government confirmed leftist rebels ELN Guerilla was responsible for the incident.
The 26-year-old received messages of support from the football world, including John Obi Mikel, who had experienced the same incident twice in his home country of Nigeria.
