2023 was undoubtedly Victor Osimhen’s year, and he has again been ranked higher than his peers following his extraordinary achievements with Napoli in the last 365 days.

The Super Eagles forward, who bagged the Serie A title with Napoli this summer and also recently renewed his contract, has been ranked as Africa’s most valuable footballer ahead of superstars like Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Osimhen tops the Transfermarkt rankings with a staggering €110 million valuation, as the Napoli striker’s value is almost double that of Mohamed Salah, who ranks second with €65 million.

Paris Saint-Germain’s right-back Achraf Hakimi comes third on the list and is valued the same as Salah at €65 million, with Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus and Andre Onana of Manchester United also making the top ten list.

All top stars are set to be on parade when the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations kicks off from January 13 to February 11 as 24 teams battle for the top football prize on the continent in Ivory Coast.

1. Victor Osimehn (Nigeria/Napoli) - €110 million

2. Mohamed Salah (Egypt/Liverpool) - €65 million

3. Achraf Hakimi (Morocco/Paris Saint-Germain - €65 million

Nigeria is Africa’s most valuable team

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles squad has been ranked number 10 in the world for squad value and number one in Africa, Pulse Sport reports.

The quality and quantity of attackers produced in Nigeria has skyrocketed, with names like Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, and Terem Moffi at the top of the list.

Osimhen extends Napoli contract

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that reigning African Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen has signed a new deal at Italian club SSC Napoli.

The 24-year-old penned a contract that will see him stay at Napoli until the summer of 2026.

Osimhen's previous contract was set to expire in 2025 but has now decided to stay for an extra year.
