According to Transfermarkt, the Danish striker's match-winner came after an accumulated 1034 minutes of play, emphasizing his struggles in his inaugural season with a United squad that's faced inconsistent form.

Before Hojlund's crucial goal, United found themselves 2-0 down to Unai Emery's high-flying Villans in the first half, setting the stage for a potential home defeat at Old Trafford.

But winger Alejandro Garnacho initiated the team's resurgence, collaborating with Marcus Rashford to reduce the deficit as the hour mark approached.

Garnacho continued the momentum, equalising the score with 19 minutes remaining, sending the stadium into ecstatic jubilation.

The 20-year-old former Atalanta forward then cemented his status as a hero with his late strike that secured all three points for Erik ten Hag's side.

However, reports suggest that the Dutch manager contemplated substituting Hojlund before his decisive 82nd-minute goal. Nonetheless, ten Hag opted to keep him on the field, replacing Rashford, who sustained an injury.

In reaction to Hojlund's much-awaited goal, Scholes hinted that the young striker was fortunate to remain on the pitch at that crucial moment.

“He does get a little bit of luck with the goal. He’s lucky he’s on the pitch. But as Michael [Owen] said, I think it’s always best when you have not been scoring goals, to not have time about it and act on instinct.
‘He has no time whatsoever [with the goal]. It happens in a flash of a second. The only thing he is thinking about is the far corner. It’s the only place he can score,” Scholes told Premier League Productions after the match via Daily Post.
