FootballCarabao Cup: Mykhailo Mudryk Sends Touching Message to Kieran Trippier After Disastrous Game
- Mykhailo Mudryk has reached out to Kieran Trippier after their Carabao Cup duel
- The right-back has undergone a few tough weeks with error-strewn performances
- Tripper was also guilty of gifting Chelsea the equaliser before missing his penalty
Mykhailo Mudryk showed his noble side with his message to Kieran Trippier after the Carabao Cup quarter-final pitting Chelsea against Newcastle United.
Mudryk came off the bench to score in stoppage time to force the game into post-match penalties after Callum Wilson opened the scoring in the first half.
The Ukrainian winger pounced on a poor attempt by Trippier to play the ball back at his goalkeeper, to slot the ball past Martin Dubravka for the Blues.
Kieran Trippier's poor performances
It has been a tough couple of weeks for Trippier, who has been guilty of uncharacteristic mistakes for the Magpies. Against Everton on December 7, he gave the ball away two times as the Toffees beat them 3-0.
His error-strewn performance continued against his former club, Tottenham Hotspur, where two of the four goals Spurs scored came from his side after mistimed clearances.
At Stamford Bridge, he let the hosts poke in an equaliser before missing his penalty. The England international put his effort wide of Đorđe Petrović's goal.
The 33-year-old has been forced to play many matches as Eddie Howe's side grapples with a congested fixture schedule and a thin squad list due to injury.
What did Mudryk tell Trippier?
Taking to Instagram a few hours after the game, Mudryk sent an uplifting message to his opponent, which read:
"Kieran, I just want to ask you to stay strong. Sometimes the [expletive] happens, but I think you are a strong footballer no matter what."
Trippier will have a chance to make amends this weekend when they play Luton Town as Mudryk's Blues travel to West Midlands to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Christmas Eve.

FootballChelsea fans unhappy with Caicedo
Sports Brief also reported that Chelsea fans weren't quite as happy with one of their star signings, Moises Caicedo. Anthony Gordon appeared uncomfortable and went down in the Blues' half, seeking treatment.
Given that it wasn't a head injury, the referee and Chelsea players were not compelled to put the ball out of play. Pochettino's men continued to pass the ball around as the Newcastle payers and fans protested.
