  • Real Madrid continues to grapple with injuries throughout the 2023-24 season
  • More than nine players have picked up injuries since the start of the campaign
  • Two midfielders are reportedly set for surgery amid Madrid's growing injury list

Real Madrid's persistent battle with injuries shows no signs of abating, as the La Liga club faces yet another setback with two players seemingly set for surgery.

Under Carlo Ancelotti's management, the team has been plagued by a series of injuries throughout the season, most notably the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) setbacks suffered by goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois and defender, Eder Militao.

Despite the persistent injury challenges, new reports from The Athletic, courtesy of journalist Mario Cortegana, have revealed that Jude Bellingham and Brahim Diaz are on the verge of undergoing surgery following injuries to their respective shoulders.

Bellingham and Brahim set for surgery

It should be recalled that Bellingham suffered a shoulder dislocation during a match against Rayo Vallecano.

Initially perceived as a minor concern, this issue forced the 20-year-old to miss games against SC Braga and Valencia CF. He also sat out England's fixtures during the final international window of 2023.

Although Bellingham has returned to action with shoulder protection, which he was visibly spotted wearing against both Cadiz and Napoli in the UEFA Champions League, the lingering nature of the problem prompts consideration of surgery.

However, the reports highlight that no specific timeline has been established for the youngster's potential surgery.

On the other hand, Brahim Diaz has been grappling with a persistent shoulder issue since the clash between Real Madrid and Las Palmas on September 27.

Despite ongoing challenges, the former Malaga youngster has continued to play. According to reports from Madrid Xtra, Brahim is expected to undergo surgery once the 2023/24 season concludes.

Camavinga injured during training

As Sports Brief has previously reported, Real Madrid have another injury concern to stress over in the coming weeks.

Eduardo Camavinga had to leave France's camp with a knee injury after colliding with Ousmane Dembele in training.

Arda Guler, Thibaut Courtois, and Eder Militao are just some of the other Los Blancos stars who are currently injured.
