Real Madrid have been hit with another injury this week, this time to a key player - Vinicius Junior.

The 23-year-old sustained an apparent muscle injury while on international duty with Brazil. The winger was brought off after 27 minutes in the World Cup qualifier against Colombia away from home.

The injury was a blow for Vinicius since he was having a great game. He combined brilliantly with Arsenal star, Gabriel Martinelli early on to give Brazil the lead.

The Selecao were unable to hold on to that lead as Colombia scored twice late in the game to hand the visitors their second straight defeat in the qualifiers.

Brazil remain fifth in the CONMEBOL qualifiers after five games. They face Argentina in a highly anticipated clash on November 22, their last match of 2023.

What is the extent of Vini Jr's injury?

Speaking after the game, the winger said his injury is similar to the one that sidelined him earlier this season. Real Madrid reported that he sustained an injury to the right biceps femoris muscle on August 28.

"I got hit, and it hurts. I will have tests in the next 24 hours. I feel the injury is the same as last time. I’ll try to play vs Argentina but medical staff told me it’s difficult," he said, via Fabrizio Romano.

That injury forced him to miss four games: one in the Champions League and three in La Liga. This means he could be out for up to a month if the injury is confirmed to be the same. The good news is the injury is not serious.

The winger has six goals and four assists in the 2023/24 season, but that injury has disrupted his momentum.

His teammate, Eduardo Camavinga sustained an injury with France, making Real Madrid's list of injured players even longer.

Jude Bellingham, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Eder Militao, Thibaut Courtois, Arda Guler, and Aurelien Tchouameni are other players on the injury list for the Spanish giants.

Puyol questions Vinicius attitude

Barcelona legend, Carles Puyol recently had words for Vinicius, lauding the Brazilian but also suggesting he change his attitude change to get more recognition.

As Sports Brief previously reported, the 23-year-old has grabbed headlines in Spain over recent months due to his numerous incidents with other teams.

Some have accused Vinicius of being overly dramatic with his on-pitch antics, some of which have attracted racist abuse from fans and even other players.
