Paris Saint-Germain’s hopes of reaching the UEFA Champions League knockout stage this season face a critical test when they host English Premier League side Newcastle United.

After losing 4-1 in the first leg to Newcastle, victory against Eddie Howe’s team will automatically put PSG back in contention to qualify from the group, and ex-PSG star David Ginola believes their supporters will have an important role to play, PSG Talk reports

“Now, the public must be present. They have always been there in big moments, but now we will ask them to be even more present.
“A football club is a team, an audience, and a stadium, and for me, this set of things means that if there is unity around this match, it will be a pleasure for everyone. The 12th man isn’t just a ready-made phrase.”

PSG have suffered two defeats in their first four group games this season and lie second in Group F with six points, one point behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.

PSG backed to avenge Newcastle loss

Meanwhile, Injury-hit Newcastle warmed up for their trip to Paris with a 4-1 Premier League victory over Chelsea on Saturday, but they have a difficult task against PSG, Livescore reports.

The Magpies had a fantastic Champions League night on matchday two, thumping PSG 4-1, but they are under pressure heading into Tuesday's return fixture owing to their inconsistent form.

PSG, on the other hand, have had emphatic victories while playing in the Parc des Princes this season in the Champions League, beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 and AC Milan 3-0, and Newcastle could be their latest victim.

PSG face stern test vs Newcastle

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Paris Saint-Germain are set to face off against Newcastle United in their crucial round five UEFA Champions League clash.

Luis Enrique's side, who have flattered to deceive on a couple of occasions, were pummelled four-nil in their reverse fixture against Eddie Howe's side.

The Ligue 1 club's woes were further compounded when they suffered yet another loss to Italian giants AC Milan in what was an utterly dismal performance.
