  • The UCL returns as Paris Saint-Germain face off against Newcastle
  • The Ligue 1 Champions are in dire need of a victory to secure qualification
  • A former PSG star has urged the fans to play a key role in the club's clash

Paris Saint-Germain are set to face off against Newcastle United in their crucial round five UEFA Champions League clash.

Luis Enrique's side, who have flattered to deceive on a couple of occasions, were pummelled four-nil in their reverse fixture against Eddie Howe's side.

The Ligue 1 club's woes were further compounded when they suffered yet another loss to Italian giants AC Milan in what was an utterly dismal performance.

These pair of defeats have caused PSG to lose their grip on the group, and they are now desperately seeking a victory in their final two fixtures.

As the stage is set for Newcastle United to visit the Parc des Princes for their latest encounter, former PSG star David Ginola, who featured over 114 times for the club between 1992 and 1995, as reported by Whoscored, has offered a valuable suggestion to help Luis Enrique's team secure a win.

Ginola provides PSG crucial winning tip

In a recent interview with PSG TV, as reported by PSG Talk, the 56-year-old French football legend emphasised the importance of fan support.

He acknowledged that PSG knows Newcastle's style of play and has the necessary quality and technique to overcome them. However, he stressed the crucial role of the fans, stating that their presence at the stadium is vital.

Ginola urged the supporters to be even more present during this critical match, emphasising that a football club comprises a team, an audience, and a stadium. He highlighted the unity around the match as a key factor and called on the fans to be the 12th man, not just a cliché but a genuine force that can make a difference.

As the pressure mounts on Luis Enrique's side, Ginola's plea for heightened fan involvement comes at a critical juncture. A defeat in this crucial match could spell the end of PSG's 2023-24 UEFA Champions League campaign.
