As noted by Managing Madrid, Raul has been offered the chance to coach struggling Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin but turned down the opportunity. The German outfit are without a manager since firing Urs Fischer and have been linked with many big names.

Raul has impressed as Castilla's coach

The 46-year-old has been in charge of the reserve side since 2019 and has earned high plaudits for his performance. As noted by Transfermarkt, he has been in charge for 146 games, winning 65 of those and losing 40.

He has also earned high praise from Carlo Ancelotti, who has, at times, given him the chance to work with the main squad.

Raul’s plans for the future

The Spanish star is keen to stay involved with the club, as he hopes to take over the coaching role of the senior side.

As noted by Diario AS, Raul is a candidate to take over when Carlo Ancelotti’s contract expires in 2024. Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso is also a favourite to take over from the Italian manager.

Union Berlin’s fall from grace

After a run of 14 games without a win, which included 13 losses, Berlin decided to part ways with Fischer, the Bundesliga website reported.

Berlin finished fourth on the table last season, earning UEFA Champions League qualification, but currently find themselves in the relegation zone.

Raul's daughter signs for Real Madrid

The daughter of Real Madrid legend Raul Gonzalez has officially signed for the Real Madrid women's cadet team.

The 12-year-old striker, who will wear the no.7 shirt of her father, was signed by Real Madrid from Olympia Las Rozas.

She will be registered with Real Madrid's U15 squad under the tutelage of Roberto Tomas, Sports Brief reported.
